Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex is a medium security facility that houses a mix of sentenced and remand people in our care and is located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The role of the facility is to contain people in our care safely, securely and humanely, focusing on the individual needs of the people in our care with the aim of providing a successful transition back into the community or on their continued journey through the prison system. The facility has a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes and provides a range of engaged services. Our highly skilled workforce provides supervision and case management and are dedicated to enhancing opportunities to strengthen the people in our care pathways.
About the Role:
The Justice Officer - Administration Support Intelligence role manages all in coming and out going mail for the men in the care of Marngoneet Correctional Centre/Karreenga Annex. The functions on the role include the inspection of mail to assist in minimising the risk of contraband entering the facility, the safe management of legal mail and upkeep of relevant registers. Reporting to the Prison Supervisor responsible for the Prison Intelligence Unit, the Justice Officer will report any suspicious or unauthorised material and ensure all records are maintained.
Some of your other duties will include:
- Maintaining appropriate registers dealing with the handling of prisoner mail.
- Checking prisoner mail/packages, using equipment and resources to aid in the detection and interdiction of contraband in and out of the facility.
- Maintaining a close working relationship with key stakeholders identifying topics/personnel of interest.
About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the:
- Ability to undertake administrative tasks with a minimum of supervision.
- Appropriate clerical experience, ability to learn and follow relevant legislation and procedures.
- Ability to work with Microsoft software.
