We are currently seeking a committed and qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our team in a full-time capacity. This role plays a vital part in safeguarding public health by identifying and managing environmental health risks within the community.
About this opportunity:
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will:
- Monitor and enforce environmental health regulations.
- Conduct inspections of food premises, public facilities, and other relevant sites.
- Investigate complaints and incidents, taking appropriate action.
- Provide expert advice and support to businesses and the public.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies.
- Maintain detailed records and prepare reports.
- Participate in public health education and outreach initiatives.
Applicants must be available for on-call duties.
Council is committed to the safety of its employees and requires an immunisation program for identified roles. The successful applicant will be required to attend a post-employment immunisation assessment, by a health practitioner nominated and paid for by the Council.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor of Health Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification eligible for Environmental Health Australia membership.
- Current QLD 'C' Class driver's licence.
- Demonstrated experience in environmental health or a related field.
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing competing priorities effectively.
- Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Paid Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment - No Card, No Start policy.
