About the Role:

Join the Curtin School of Population Health as a Lecturer (or Associate Lecturer) in Nutritional Physiology within our Nutrition and Dietetics discipline. This full-time (1.0 FTE), three-year contract position is ideal for someone who excels in nutritional physiology or pathophysiology and who is deeply committed to delivering academic excellence in teaching and research at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The successful candidate will play a key role in curriculum design and development, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for our students. We're looking for an inspirational educator who can create an engaging learning environment while contributing to impactful research in nutrition and dietetics.

The ideal applicant will hold a doctoral qualification or have significant progression towards obtaining one related to nutritional physiology or pathophysiology. A strong knowledge of the subject area, along with a commitment to innovation and research, is essential to guide and motivate the next generation of nutrition science professionals in this field.

Your responsibilities will be (but are not limited to):

In Teaching

  • Delivering high-quality instruction, fostering student learning through scholarly-informed methods, assessing student work, and contributing to curriculum design.

In Research

  • Build research capability to conduct competitive and a high-quality nutrition research and/or scholarship of learning and teaching program. Seek funding as a co or chief investigator.
  • Share findings through publications, seminars, and conferences.
  • Provide supervision to postgraduate research students.

In Service and Leadership:

  • Build collaborations with external stakeholders to establish and maintain industry links to advance the nutrition discipline.
  • Promoting collegiality, engaging with the community, and maintaining high professional standards to create a supportive work environment.

Selection Criteria – who we are looking for:

  1. Progress towards, or completion of a doctoral qualification in nutritional physiology or relevant discipline.
  2. A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  3. Demonstrated experience in implementing effective and innovative teaching that promotes student learning.
  4. An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching of nutritional physiology and/or pathophysiology.
  5. Demonstrated experience/capacity to undertake unit coordination.
  6. Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. A commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance and functions of this position.
  8. Commitment to applying relevant policies and procedures in daily responsibilities.
  9. Demonstrated competency in a range of qualitative and quantitative research tasks (e.g. recruitment, data collection, data analysis and reporting).
  10. Research outputs in high-quality academic journals, evidence of a growing national profile, HDR student supervision and contribution to research initiatives.

Role Requirements:

  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
