Welcome to St John of God Health Care

St John of God Health Care is one of the largest private providers of health care services in Australia, employing more than 16,000 employees (caregivers). We operate 26 hospitals and services comprising more than 3,300 hospital beds, including home nursing, disability services and social outreach programs.

St John of God Subiaco Hospital is the oldest and biggest hospital in the St John of God Health Care group, having been established in 1898. It is one of Australia's most respected providers of health care services and an internationally renowned leader in clinical trials and research. The hospital is also a leader in innovation and adoption of new technologies, including the implementation of robotic surgical devices and virtual reality imaging technology.

Your Role - Be Part of a Landmark Transformation in Healthcare

St John of God Subiaco Hospital, Western Australia's oldest private hospital, is undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation - a multi-stage redevelopment that will establish a world-class hospital campus. This ambitious project is redefining private healthcare through a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, clinical excellence, and patient-centred care.

As part of this exciting journey, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the internal redevelopment team and play a key role in delivering one of Australia's largest private hospital redevelopments. Working within a live operational environment, you will collaborate with caregivers, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders to manage all aspects of the redevelopment - from design and authority approvals to construction delivery, reporting, and commissioning.

With construction of the Stage 3 New Clinical Building scheduled from 2026 to 2028, this role offers a rare opportunity to contribute to a transformative healthcare project. You will be accountable for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of project outcomes, ensuring alignment with agreed timeframes, quality standards, and budget parameters.

Please learn more about the journey so far on the Subiaco Hospital Redevelopment website.

The Position

  • Accountable for the successful execution of allocated projects, within approved project baselines and in compliance with the agreed project management methodology.
  • Management of project financials and reporting.
  • Planning, forecasting, resourcing, scheduling, prioritising and coordinating project activities.
  • Effectively managing project baselines (scope, time, cost, quality, risk) by ensuring that changes are documented, approved and registered.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining project management artefacts as directed.
  • Manage project risks and issues including identifying, registering and driving mitigation treatment activities, escalating and reporting as required.
  • Ensuring that the documented quality standards of the project are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring project data is maintained, preparing project status reports and other project deliverables as directed.
  • Ensuring appropriate project governance is set up and maintained, coordinating and reporting to project governance bodies as directed.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to influence project outcomes and effectively manage change.
  • Build trusted and constructive relationships with sponsors and executive to facilitate effective and transparent communication.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a similar role supporting the delivery of complex construction projects across all phases of the project lifecycle. You will hold relevant project management qualifications and/or bring substantial project management experience within a healthcare or similarly complex operational environment. Your strong problem-solving skills will enable you to navigate challenges with confidence and agility, while your ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative setting will be essential to achieving shared project goals.

You will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate the business context and strategic importance of projects to a wide range of audiences. Your capacity to work autonomously, combined with strong time management and organisational skills, will enable you to meet competing deadlines in a dynamic environment.

A proven ability to produce high-quality written materials - including reports, briefing notes, discussion papers, and formal correspondence - is essential. Additionally, you will be adept at leading, influencing, and building strong relationships across all levels of the organisation to drive project success.

Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

All applicants are asked to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.

We can offer you
