Led by our Board of Directors, the Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) is working closely with Town Campers to ensure all aspects of Housing Management across all Town Camps transitions back to TCAC in a manner which upholds principles of self-determination and supports strong governance within Housing Associations/Corporations utilising the local – decision making framework.
The Coordinator - Secretariat is part of the Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) and plays a key role in ensuring that new and existing governance and organisational policies and programs reflect the priorities and needs of Town Camps, supporting meaningful and lasting outcomes.
The purpose of this role is to support effective governance and compliance across the sixteen Town Camps (11 Town Camp Association Committees and 5 Aboriginal Corporation Boards) who are corporate members of Tangentyere Council. The Coordinator - Secretariat provides administrative and governance support services to assist the Associations and Corporations in meeting their compliance obligations under relevant legislation (CATSI Act 2006 and Associations Act 2003).
The role also promotes culturally safe governance engagement and supports Town Camp residents to have a clear voice in governance processes. Importantly, the Coordinator - Secretariat works to support Town Camp Associations and Corporations to operate in a way that upholds principles of self-determination and aligns with Tangentyere’s values, including the Town Camp Wellness Framework.
As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative and governance support to Town Camp Housing Associations/Corporations.
Assist the Town Camp Housing Associations/Corporations by being the first point of contact for all general enquiries.
Enable legislative and regulatory compliance.
Meeting facilitation and governance capacity building.
Facilitate cross-sector and intra-agency coordination.
Maintain governance administration and documentation.
Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
Other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
Demonstrated previous experience in the governance and leadership space, specifically in intercultural contexts.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines.
Sound oral, written communication and computer application skills including the ability to enter and extract data.
High level interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in a cross-cultural environment, including the ability to produce concise and accurate reports, briefings, and submissions.
Demonstrated ability to undertake consultation processes and to facilitate meetings consistent with constitutional and legislative requirements.
Knowledge of the CATSI Act, Associations Act and other relevant legislation.
Good organisational skills including the ability to plan and prioritise tasks and the ability to exercise initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision.
Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.
Desired
Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
