What you'll be doing
Biomedical Engineer, Systems - Medical Services Division is an engineering member within the Clinical Technology Service (CTS) of Northern Sydney Local Health District, consisting of engineering, technical, clinical and administrative staff. The role reports for daily operational activities to the Senior Electronics Technician, Medical Services Division and for projects and professionally to the Senior Biomedical Engineer.
The Biomedical Engineer, Systems manages system of system integration with electronic medical records, software/hardware support, and medical system security and regulatory affairs. Also encompassing traditional role of repairs, preventive maintenance, and performance verification of medical equipment and systems to ensure patient safety and accuracy of treatment. This position undertakes system integration of medical systems to corporate and medical information technology infrastructure, manages/configures medical networks and devices. Utilises system development life-cycle (SDLC) to produce and maintain software and databases related to healthcare. The Biomedical Engineer, Systems assures that all medical systems, under their care are operating safely, accurately, and meet all manufacturers' specifications and to the requirements of AS/NZ standards. This position is capable of working independently and as a team member and will participate in special projects as authorised by the Senior Biomedical Engineer/Director of Clinical Technology Service.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Demonstrated knowledge of software principles, windows operating system and data network theory and application. Sound computer skills including database systems and office productivity software.

  1. Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering (qualification must be recognised by Engineers Australia) and progressing towards or having completed studies in relevant life science subjects or a Masters in Biomedical Engineering.
  2. Demonstrated high level of effective written, oral and interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
