Here’s an opportunity to take on meaningful and interesting work in one of Australia’s most respected Health Law and Insurance legal practices. This 12-month contract role sits within a Medical Negligence team that advises hospitals, doctors, allied health professionals and major health organisations on some of the most sensitive and high-profile matters in the industry.

You’ll be supporting across a variety of litigation work, from civil claims and disciplinary proceedings to coronial inquests and complaint investigations. Confidentiality, composure and professionalism are essential, as many of these matters make headlines.

This role has become available due to an internal promotio, and while it’s initially a contract, there’s real potential for it to become permanent.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing high-level legal administrative support across busy medical negligence files
• Preparing court documentation, briefs and correspondence
• Managing diaries, emails, billing and file administration
• Liaising with clients, barristers and health professionals (with sensitivity and discretion)
• Assisting with document collation for investigations, hearings and litigation deadlines

About You
You’re an experienced Legal Assistant who thrives in litigation or insurance-based environments. You understand urgency, accuracy and discretion, and you’re confident supporting multiple fee earners in a fast-paced practice.
You’ll bring:

• 2+ years prior legal assistant experience within a private practice law firm (insurance, litigation or health law ideally)
• Strong document preparation, billing and file management skills
• A proactive, calm and professional approach to complex and sensitive matters
• Availability to work full-time, in a hybrid model (3 office / 2 WFH)
