We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual for our Marine Mechanical & Fitting Division at our Quayside Support Base in Exmouth, a key facility supporting offshore projects and marine operations.

Mechanical/Fitting Duties:

Install, maintain, and repair marine mechanical systems including:

Diesel Engines and propulsion systems

Hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Pumps, valves, piping, and associated equipment

Carry out precision alignment, fitting, and assembly of components.

Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.

Conduct fault diagnosis and troubleshoot mechanical failures or malfunctions.

Ensure all mechanical work meets classification society and safety standards.

Supervisory & Project Duties:

Lead and coordinate mechanical and Fabrication Teams on assigned projects (e.g. refits & dry dockings).

Plan daily work scopes, allocate resources, and manage labour and materials.

Monitor project progress and report on timelines, costs, and work quality.

Liaise with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are understood and met.

Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and enforce correct use of PPE and safety practices.

Maintain accurate project documentation, including job cards, inspection reports, Variation documents and timesheets.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Training:

Certificate or trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or Mechanical Fitting

Additional training in project or site supervision.

Confined space, working at heights, forklift Ticket.

Current Australian Driving License.

Experience:

5 years post Trade experience as a marine mechanic/fitter, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory/project coordination role.

Experience in shipbuilding, vessel repair, or offshore environments.

Familiarity with project reporting tools.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of marine systems (diesel engines, propulsion, hydraulics, etc.).

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.

Competent in use of workshop tools, lifting gear, and diagnostic instruments.

Project Management Skills:

Capable of managing timelines, budgets, and teams across multiple work fronts.

Skilled in scheduling, resource planning, and problem resolution.

Strong communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
