Timco - Salisbury and Lonsdale branches is looking for a Yard Hand - Timber Picker in the pine and LVL yard (chainsaw operator) to custom cut LVL (Laminated veneer lumber) to size for customer.

Position is currently casual (as and when required - up to 38 hrs/wk) with the opportunity of full-time ongoing work after minimum of 6 months working.

Above Award rates, no weekend work required, Monday to Friday, start time 7:30am to 4:00pm. Immediate start.

Ideally looking for someone who has timber knowledge or background from working in construction. Must have good mathematical skills, reliable, able to heavy lift, easy going and willing to work within a good team environment. Also:

fit and healthy

Can take direction and follow instructions

Able to do hard, repetitive work

Experience in labour, mechanical, production work preferred Forklift licence (preferred) Chainsaw licence (desirable)

Good Maths and English (essential)

The successful applicant(s) will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing for those holding high-risk licences and/or duties.

Timber LVL Yard Hand employees prepare timber/hardware merchandise for customers in a timely and efficient manner that achieves the utmost in customer satisfaction by providing friendly service, professional advice, and by efficient and effective productivity.

Timber LVL Yard Hand carries out a range of manual tasks in the timber yard and operates machinery to prepare customer timber orders for delivery or customer pick up

Qualifications & experience

Experience in working with timber, ideal but not essential

Experience in working as a Yard Hand order picking

Valid Forklift Licence, preferred but not essential

Team player, essential

Willingness to learn and follow instructions. essential

Consistently meet or exceed planned objectives, essential

Current SA drivers licence / HR / MR Drivers licence, preferred but not essential

Tasks & responsibilities

Keep the warehouse safe and tidy

Assist in order picking if need be

Loading / Unloading trucks if need be

Liaise and take directions from the Branch Manager and Yard Logistic's Co-ordinator
