We are on the hunt for a Data Engineer to join our growing Data & Analytics team, supporting a large-scale enterprise mining program. This exciting contract opportunity offers a dynamic and collaborative environment, where you will develop, maintain, and optimize robust data pipelines using Azure and Databricks. Mining experience is desirable but not essential. We value your problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Databricks, Azure Data Services, and SQL-based tools.
Create and maintain stored procedures, data models, and integration workflows for analytics and reporting.
Lead data ingestion and migration projects, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.
Implement data governance and security practices based on Azure best practices.
Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to deliver structured, documented, and efficient data solutions.
Provide reliable data transformation and provisioning support to Power BI developers and end users.
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve team processes and uphold high technical standards.
Required Skills & Experience
3–5 years of experience in data engineering or data platform development in enterprise environments.
Solid hands-on experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or similar data integration tools.
Strong SQL skills, including expertise in stored procedures and query optimization.
Familiarity with data ingestion, migration, and transformation concepts.
Exposure to Power BI and data modelling for reporting purposes.
Excellent communication and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience working in an Agile environment (knowledge of SAFe is a plus).
Desirable Skills
Experience in the mining, resources, or industrial sectors.
Basic understanding of data governance, metadata, and security frameworks.
Exposure to Python, PySpark, or other scripting languages for data processing.
Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices for data pipelines.
