A great short-term opportunity within a council in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs as a Pool Inspector, helping to deliver a safe and compliant built environment for the community.
In this role, you'll support the Municipal Building Surveyor in administering and enforcing the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018, with a focus on pool and spa safety compliance. You'll work within a collaborative Building Services team committed to maintaining high standards of public safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pool and spa barrier inspections and manage the pool/spa registration and compliance program.
- Assist with enforcement and compliance of building and safety standards, including investigations and report preparation.
- Provide technical advice to the community and internal stakeholders on building and pool safety matters.
- Support the preparation of policies and procedures relating to building and safety compliance.
- Participate in internal working groups and represent Council at the Magistrates Court, VCAT, or Building Appeals Board when required.
- Promote continuous improvement and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, codes, and standards.
Key Selection Criteria
- A relevant tertiary qualification, with a Diploma of Building Surveying (minimum).
- Preferably registered as a Building Practitioner - Pool Inspector.
- Experience in building surveying, regulatory enforcement, or compliance within a local government or similar environment.
- Strong working knowledge of the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, and Australian Standards relating to pool safety.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management and organisational abilities to manage multiple priorities.
