About the Role

GPS Electrical Services is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Industrial Electrician to support the delivery of electrical works across a range of industrial and projects in Sydney, NSW. This position is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical systems in line with project requirements and industry standards.

The role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding GPS Electrical Services' reputation for professional service and workmanship.

Working closely with project managers, site teams, and clients, the successful applicant will be responsible for executing electrical tasks independently and as part of a coordinated team.

This position is ideal for an experienced industrial electrician who has a solid background in process-driven environments, who can interpret electrical plans/schematics, troubleshoot effectively, and contribute to a positive and productive site culture.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with Australian standards.

Interpret drawing packages including, architectural drawings/layouts, technical drawings, and electrical schematics to execute electrical installations correctly.

Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical systems to identify and rectify faults.

Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems and equipment to ensure operational safety and compliance.

Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while on job sites.

Stay updated with advancements in the electrical field and changes to relevant legislation.

Complete low voltage and extra low voltage testing sheets for all projects accurately and on time.

Prepare and submit Certificates of Electrical Safety as mandated for each project.

Ensure that Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) are fully completed for all projects.

Complete daily online pre-start forms.

Demonstrate willingness and ability to work in various industrial environments, including abattoirs, hazardous areas, and general brownfield and greenfield sites.

Maintain GPS-owned or hired Elevated Work Platforms (EWP) and boom lifts, ensuring they are within service dates and properly charged or fueled each day.

Supervise and mentor apprentices, providing guidance and support for their professional development.

Ensure you have a complete set of personal hand and power tools; specialised tools will be provided by the company.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a qualified electrician, preferably in a range of commercial, and industrial environments.

Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations in Australia.

Proficient in the use of electrical testing equipment and tools.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical stamina and the ability to work in challenging environments, including heights and confined spaces

Essential Requirements

Hold a current Australian recognised Electrical Trade Qualification

EWP and Boom Lift

Hold a current Australian drivers' licence

Q-Fever Vaccine
