This is a specialised position supporting multiple participants with physical, psychosocial and intellectual disability, autism, epilepsy, anxiety, and depression in the Cornubia, 4130 and northern Gold Coast areas. The role primarily involves supporting a young woman with daily living tasks including cleaning, shopping, meal preparation, attending appointments, and building independence skills.
We're seeking an experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our growing family of passionate professionals in this unique, person-centred role. You'll provide holistic support, focusing on building independence, community participation, and maintaining a calm, structured approach to daily living.
You'll play a vital role in empowering participants through skill development, household support, and compassionate care, helping participants live their best life in their own home and within their community.
What You Will Be Doing
Assisting with daily living activities including personal care, house cleaning, shopping, and meal preparation in a supportive and empowering manner
Accompanying participants to and from appointments, social events, and community activities while promoting independence and confidence
Implementing individualised support plans using our digital client profiles, with particular attention to psychosocial needs, anxiety management, and seizure protocols
Supporting skill development and capacity building to enhance independence in daily life and community participation
Facilitating meaningful activities and community engagement that align with the participant's interests and goals
Providing patient, calm, and trauma-informed support for someone with lived experience of psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, autism, epilepsy, anxiety, and depression
Recognising and responding appropriately to triggers, behavioural changes, and seizure activity with confidence and compassion
Championing the participant's rights and promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing through respectful, person-centred interactions
Maintaining detailed records and communicating effectively with family members and the broader care team
Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety standards while delivering specialised, holistic care
Supporting participants' preferences for an organised, clean home environment and daily routines
Minimum Requirements
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
National Police Check
Working with Children Check
Drivers Licence with reliable vehicle
Demonstrated experience supporting people with psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, austism and epilepsy
