Job Summary
Acacia Systems is developing a Counter-UAS (CUAS) simulation environment using Unreal Engine 5. This greenfield system will form the foundation for training, simulation, and algorithm development: modelling drones, sensors, and effectors within realistic operational contexts and linking to real-world Command & Control (C2) systems.

We’re seeking a Simulation Technical Lead to architect and deliver this capability from first principles, combining hands-on engineering with system-level design and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement the CUAS simulation environment in Unreal Engine 5.

Study and adapt third-party physics-based models for CUAS sensors (Radar, EO/IR, EW) and effectors (ballistic, electronic).

Model radar, electronic-warfare, and electro-optical/infra-red sensors and their interactions with drones and effectors.

Prototype and iterate across use-cases such as operator training, engagement visualisation, and adversarial reinforcement-learning experimentation.

Work with engineers, researchers, and product stakeholders to align simulation development with CUAS program goals.

Contribute to capability growth through mentoring, technical guidance, and team formation.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software or Physics: demonstrating the analytical grounding needed for simulation and systems modelling.

Proven experience delivering complex simulation or game-engine systems, ideally with Unreal Engine 5.

Comfortable with C++ for Unreal integration, complemented by scripting in Lua, Python, or similar tools.

Solid understanding of simulation and applied physics, including motion dynamics and sensor modelling.

Experience with Git and CI/CD.

Confident communicator able to translate technical and exploratory goals between disciplines.

Australian citizenship required (for security eligibility).
