About the opportunity
The Specialist, Risk and Internal Audit, is a member of the Risk and Internal Audit team (R&IA) within the Office of the CEO. R&IA is responsible for developing, implementing and managing AUSTRAC’s risk and internal audit frameworks, and Comcover insurance requirements. R&IA’s program of work includes supporting the undertaking of:
Enterprise and business unit risk profiling and related risk assessments
Control assurance and testing programs
Risk and internal audit maturity benchmarking assessments
Performance, compliance and financial internal audits and hygiene checks
Monitoring and reporting on the completion of outstanding recommendations from internal audits and hygiene checks
Administration of Comcover insurance requirements.

Relevant Qualifications and/or Experience - Relevant qualifications and/or experience in audit and risk related fields is desirable but not essential.

Environmental Scanning - Understands the linkages between AUSTRAC work areas and incorporates this into planning and decision making and promotes AUSTRAC’s strategic themes and priorities to others based on a sound understanding of AUSTRAC’s role in the APS environment.
Procedures and Instructions - Resolves problems effectively using legislation, established practices, policies and methodologies relevant to area of specialisation, and provides quality assurance.
Key Duties
The Specialist, Risk and Internal Audit, under limited supervision is responsible for:
Providing specialist assistance and facilitating the coordination, implementation and on-going management of AUSTRAC’s integrated internal audit and risk management frameworks to ensure the agency effectively identifies, assesses and appropriately manages its risk.
Contributing to the development and implementation of agency-wide and integrated risk management and internal audit policies, procedures and tools.
Contributing to the development of a positive audit and risk culture within the agency through the development, coordination and delivery of staff education, training and guidance material.
Providing general advice to business unit managers and staff on audit, control assurance, risk management or related activities.
Supporting the planning, development and implementation of R&IA’s primary work programs including the annual Internal Audit Work Plan and the AUSTRAC Risk Management Strategy.
Liaising with AUSTRAC’s Internal Audit contracted service provider to ensure positive external relationships are developed and effective management outcomes are achieved.
Liaising with AUSTRAC’s insurance provider to ensure appropriate administration of insurance obligations.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this role you:
Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
Will need to undertake AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Baseline Security Clearance
