Head Chef - Cafe Food/Pastry and Baking Operations

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Managing Breakfast/Lunch Service and ensuring that Zookeepers standards and values are met/exceeded.

Maintain a high level of service experience with a great attitude and friendly manner.

Create and pitch and cost menu ideas to owners.

Lead daily kitchen operations, from prep to service and manage staff cost

Oversee and contribute to baking of pastries and sourdough products

Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety

Manage kitchen inventory, weekly ordering, stock control and rotation.

Assist in hiring, training and developing the Back of House Team.

Handle customer queries in a friendly, problem solving/solution based and professional manner at all times.

Contribute to discussions of new ideas and be able to analyse the performance of the cafe to assist in the growth of the business.

Co-operating with FOH Administration duties (responding to emails, online ordering, invoicing, timesheets etc) .

Directly work with Owners/Mangers, other supervisors and kitchen leaders.

About You

Successful candidate must have:

Chef Qualification with an Interest and Passion for Cafe/Coffee Food/Pastries/Baking.

Proven experience in a Head Chef or Sous Chef role (breakfast/brunch/pastry experience a big plus)

Strong baking skills & knowledge, especially in sourdough bread and pastries

Excellent leadership and organisational skills

Passionate about fresh, seasonal ingredients and scratch cooking

Able to thrive in a fast-paced morning environment Calm under pressure and solutions-focused

Professional manner and confidence in communicating with Owners/Management.

Organised with good time management and ability to prioritise a positive experience for staff and customers alike to manifest the Zookeepers Broome experience.
