About This Opportunity
Help shape the future of The University of Queensland's planning function. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the preparation of UQ's student enrolment and revenue projections and work closely with senior academic leaders to design and evaluate new degree proposals. You'll combine analytical insight with creative problem-solving to inform major decisions that influence university budgeting, strategic growth, and student admissions.
Looking ahead, this position offers a unique opportunity to play a central role in shaping the University's response to new Government funding arrangements arising from the Universities Accord - ensuring UQ continues to thrive in a changing higher education landscape.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a small team responsible for the development and provision of accurate and timely student load and income projections for the purposes of University budgetary, admissions, and other strategic planning activities;
- Developing and managing the University's program development framework to ensure program proposals and pricing strategies are strategically aligned, demand driven and market aligned;
- Developing and maintain relationships across UQ and with external parties to negotiate an approach to load, admissions and student funding which reflects the strategic objectives of the University, government policy, and statutory requirements;
- Providing support during the QTAC and graduate entry Medicine admissions cycles, requiring high levels of organisation, accuracy, and extending to responsibility for some timebound operational processes;

About You
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive
relevant experience in analysing complex administrative data, and provision of high
quality strategic advice; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or
education/training. - Proven ability to think strategically and anticipate challenges; conceptualise issues and initiate new ideas; analyse complex, sometimes ambiguous, problems; and develop and implement sustainable solutions.
- Demonstrated high-level analytical skills, including extensive experience in analysing trends and patterns in quantitative data and the design and testing of scenarios to support strategic
decision making. - Extensive experience and a high level of proficiency in compiling, manipulating and analysing
complex administrative datasets using Business Intelligence reporting tools such as SAP BusinessObjects (or similar) to enable accurate reporting and analysis. - Excellent written communication skills including the ability to produce timely, concise and
accurate reports, briefing papers and submissions based on analysis of complex issues and
policies. - Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to consult,
collaborate and negotiate with staff at all levels, as well as with external agencies. - High level understanding of the university environment, regulatory arrangements, developments and trends in the higher education sector.
