ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to be based in our Sydney office. This role will support the tax obligations for legal entities in Australia and New Zealand and reports to the Tax Director. The core responsibilities include preparing and filing both direct and indirect tax lodgment obligations, contributing to the organisation’s tax governance framework, and occasionally offering tax advisory to enhance stakeholder outcomes and create value for external clients. This is a 9-month parental leave contract with a view to extend.
Essential duties:
Assist with the preparation of Australian and New Zealand tax compliance lodgments (including: GST activity statements and FBT returns, withholding tax reports and income tax returns).
Record monthly tax accrual journals and prepare account reconciliations.
Prepare tax provision calculations and assist with the year end audit.
Undertake research and produce written advice/position papers on tax law matters as and when required.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of effective processes to ensure compliance with tax legislations and Custom Fleet’s policies and procedures.
Liaise with relevant tax authorities and manage relationships with external tax advisors.
Collaborate with key internal stakeholders including the Finance team and Global Tax team.
Assistance with other ad hoc projects as and when required.
Other duties:
Interest in process improvement or automation.

Education & Experience
Essential:
4+ years medium to large corporate and/or chartered experience with exposure to financial reporting.
Completed degree in Accounting/Commerce or Law.
Other:
CA or CPA qualification desired.

Ability to analyse and communicate technical tax legislation.
Extensive experience analysing technical tax legislation
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Other:
Familiarity with leasing industry trends and issues (e.g. leasing products, emerging technologies, tax treatment of lease incentives, residual value risk, depreciation calculations).
Exposure to international tax matters, such as transfer pricing or cross-border withholding tax.
