About the Role
We're seeking an experienced RIS Linux Administrator to join our Federal Government client's Digital Research Infrastructure team. This is a primarily onsite role supporting secure Linux services and related technologies in a complex, research-focused environment.
You'll be working collaboratively to deliver day-to-day Linux support services, drive innovation aligned with enterprise roadmaps, and manage security initiatives in a unique threat environment.

Mandatory Requirements

• Active NV2 security clearance (essential - role cannot proceed without this)
• Proven experience in Linux system administration, ideally with Red Hat Satellite and Canonical Landscape
• High-level scripting skills in at least one of: Python, Bash, PowerShell
• Experience with automation tools: Ansible playbooks, Puppet modules/manifests
• Strong understanding of Defence Security Principles Framework, ASD Essential 8, and Information Security Manual
• SFIA Level 5 capability

Key Responsibilities

• Provide system administration and troubleshooting for complex Linux research systems
• Manage Linux security initiatives, vulnerabilities, and incident response
• Drive innovation within Linux services aligned with enterprise roadmaps
• Maintain, upgrade, and manage Linux operating systems and infrastructure
• Manage workloads, priorities, and system changes for Linux environments
• Deliver change and configuration management of systems
• Manage workload and tasking of direct reports

Key Skills
Essential:

• Design, implementation, and system administration of Linux operating systems and environments
• Experience with Windows Operating Systems environments
• Cloud technologies experience with focus on template provisioning of complex virtual environments
• Linux virtualisation via on-premise cloud infrastructure
• Customer-focused approach with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Highly Desirable:

• Red Hat certification
• Defence or government sector experience
• Experience analyzing complex technical configurations
