About the Opportunity:
City of Darwin Libraries is seeking a STEAM Programs Officer to lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of engaging STEAM programs that inspire curiosity and build digital confidence across our diverse community. This role sits within the Library & Family Services team and plays a key part in positioning our libraries as vibrant hubs of discovery and innovation.
You’ll manage a team of STEAM Programs Assistants, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and oversee the use of emerging technologies such as robotics, VR and 3D printing. Your leadership will help foster inclusive learning experiences and build capacity across the organisation and community.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage all STEAM programs, events and activities delivered both in the libraries or as outreach in the community, including research, self-education, planning, promotion, delivery, and evaluation.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to build capacity within the community.
Engage key groups within the community, including Inspire NT, NT Science Week, and science educators across Darwin.
Supervise the acquisition, operation and maintenance of equipment and software such as robots, 3D printers, and other technology.
In collaboration with the (Senior) Coordinator Library Programs & Engagement, ensure that City of Darwin Libraries STEAM programs are delivered to the highest standard.
Contribute promotional content, including for e-newsletters, website, social media, posters and flyers.
Ensure Library customers are provided with a positive, proactive and responsive customer service experience.
Engage, support and connect library users with services, resources and activities.
Assist customers in the library with general enquiries and the use of technology.
Support customers in the use of self-serve technologies, computers, tablets and mobile devices, including social media and eBooks.
What You’ll Bring
Diploma level in a STEAM discipline or equivalent qualifications and/or experience
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience delivering STEAM related/connected programs and events with a focus on community outcomes.
Current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
Flexibility to work at multiple library locations.
Ability to work within a library roster, including evenings and weekends.
Possession of a Class C Drivers Licence.
Desirable
Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisor role
Pre-employment Requirement
Fitness for work (medical physical assessment)
