About the role

The Leasing and Property Officer will develop and implement best practice property portfolio management services to ensure that Council property contributes to the development of strategies, plans and budgets and is managed to optimise the performance of the portfolio assets and maximise financial and other benefits to Council, the community and facility users.

The position will collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and users to assist in the development and implementation of a Property and Land Strategy and an Affordable Housing Strategy that supports Council’s strategic objectives, commercial investments, service delivery and meets community needs and objectives.

Remuneration

$99,115.12 pa -$117.368.68 pa + 12% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

  1. This position requires commercial and business acumen and a high level of negotiation skills to coordinate and facilitate the management of Council’s property portfolio including, affordable housing, disposals, acquisitions, land management, leases, licenses, air space and community agreements, WHS reports, accommodation subsidies and grants,
  2. The position will collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and users to assist in the development and implementation of a Property and Land Strategy and an Affordable Housing Strategy that supports Council’s strategic objectives, commercial investments, service delivery and meets community needs and objectives.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge to manage properties and land registers in accordance with S8 Local Government Act (asset owner), Residential Tenancies Act and Strata Schemes Management Act.
  4. Assist to develop and improve the Council’s partnerships with other levels of government, the private and non-for-profit housing and community service organisations to promote and implement best practice.
  5. Tertiary degree level or industry-specific qualifications or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field of Property or Asset or Strata or Leasing Management and coordination.
  6. Demonstrated experience in managing diversified property portfolios, experience in Project Management either the public or not-for-profit sectors with respect to real property transactions and including the establishment and/or management of community or affordable housing initiatives.
  7. Excellent time management and negotiation skills to adapt to shifting priorities and competing deadlines.
