Make governance hum. CHC Australia, Canberra’s largest provider of affordable and social housing are growing fast and need a highly organised Executive Officer to keep the Board, multiple committees and SPVs running smoothly freeing up the CEO and Exec to focus on impact.
Why this role matters
With five (and growing) SPVs holding six meetings each per year, plus Board and committee cycles the governance load is substantial. You’ll be the engine room: coordinating papers, chasing actions, and ensuring meetings and compliance timelines are tight and professional.
The work you’ll lead
Board & committee cycles – build and manage the annual calendar, draft agendas, collate and circulate papers, prepare packs, and provide high-quality minutes and action registers.
SPV secretariat – coordinate SPV meeting logistics and documentation; track decisions, consents and resulting actions.
Governance compliance – maintain registers, charters and templates; track key dates; coordinate with Risk & Compliance for filings (e.g. ASIC) and annual declarations.
Stakeholder management – be the confident point of contact for the Chair, Directors and executives; follow up deadlines with tact and authority.
Targeted EA support – supporting the CEO and selected executive with diary, meeting and travel coordination ensuring priorities and prep are clear.
Primary reporting will be to the CEO to ensure alignment and responsiveness; you’ll work closely with the Board Chair and the legal/compliance team.
About you
Experience in an Executive Officer/Secretariat, Board Secretary or senior EA role supporting Boards/committees in a complex organisation.
Master organiser: calm under pressure, excellent at sequencing workloads across multiple entities and deadlines.
Outstanding minutes & papers – clear, accurate, action-oriented; strong document control and versioning discipline.
Professional with confidence and capability to manage up and secure inputs from senior stakeholders with professionalism and discretion.
Working knowledge of governance frameworks, constitutions/charters and compliance calendars.
What You’ll Get
Hybrid working and flexibility to manage meeting cycles.
A pivotal role at the centre of decision-making, with exposure to the CEO, Board and senior leaders.
And, why CHC?
CHC do more than deliver housing; underpinned by their mission of enabling more people in the Canberra region to live in quality homes at a price that is affordable; you will get the satisfaction of enabling housing projects that strengthen communities across Canberra.
