Morwell Early Years Support Practitioner

Temporary Part Time – 22.8 Hours per week until 15 October 2028

Salary Range: $97,245.14 - $105,466.60 per annum plus 12% Superannuation

Location: Morwell, Victoria

Department: Family Services

We have an exciting opportunity to join Latrobe City council as a Morwell Early Years Support Practitioner until October 2028.

The Role

In this role you will work to improve the health and wellbeing of children by providing more focused and intensive support for vulnerable families experiencing significant early parenting difficulties and children identified as being at risk of poor outcomes.

The objectives will include:

  • Provide advisory, supportive and educative primary health and support service to families with children within the Morwell area.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with the Our Place team, local community, and other Health, Children and Family Services staff and agencies.
  • Provide a comprehensive and focused approach for the early intervention and prevention of physical, emotional and social issues affecting young children and their families.
  • Provide integrated service provision across all early childhood services including maternity and neonatal services, the universal Maternal and Child Health Service, early intervention, family support, child protection, childcare, preschool and parenting services

About You

We are seeking someone with extensive knowledge of early childhood development, family functioning and parenting issues as well as experience working with vulnerable families with children in the 0-6 years. You will also have proven ability to deliver placemaking initiatives that activate public spaces and foster inclusive cultural participation.

You will also have:

  • Diploma or above qualification in Children's Services, Early Childhood Development, Community Services, Nursing or relevant field.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • The Morwell Early Years Support Practitioner may be required to use their own vehicle for home visits when a Council Pool Car is not available. Staff will be reimbursed for travel at the rate according to the Victorian Local Authorities Award 200

Successful applicants will be required to apply for and satisfactorily obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
