Position Summary

This is a six-month contract role with a view to permanency

Working from standardised production manufacturing procedures, execute and monitor standard operations, tests, or experiments (electronic, mechanical) with minimal supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

· Performs (routine) production area tasks to quality, quantity and productivity standards following work instructions or samples with minimal supervision.

· Mechanically assembles and interconnects parts/sub-assemblies, metal sub-frames and plastic lenses and labels to make products using detailed Assembly Instructions.

· Utilises hand tools such as soldering irons, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, riveters, callipers, etc. to assemble products.

· Operates equipment such as test jigs, dispensing equipment and material handling, etc. to assemble products.

· Monitors and verifies quality of each production operation using visual inspection, SQC (Statistical Quality Control) Techniques.

· Collects and records data on forms for production/process controls. Utilises data and feedback to continuously improve process.

· Keeps counts of quantities produced, reworked or scrapped.

· Informs Team Leaders of material, tooling, or process problems that may affect production schedules or product quality.

· Follows specified material handling methods and may perform kitting, sorting or delivery of work (within department).

· Uses production schedule daily for product type and quantity.

· Follows safe work practices by maintaining a clean and organised work area and equipment.

· Performs chemical, electronic or mechanical operations, tests or experiments using standardised procedures/instructions.

· Generates updated process specifications.

· Orders supplies to meet appropriate inventory levels.

· Follows correct material handling methods.

· Assignment will be in any of the following areas:

Electronic Assembly

· Undertake in-process testing & record keeping

· Undertake basic configuration and testing of complete electronic assemblies.

Lightbar Assembly

· Mechanical assembly of lighting sub-assemblies, metal sub-frames and plastic lenses

· Utilises auto-electrical standard wiring connections between lighting components.

Wiring Loom

· Using automated machines to cut/strip/crimp automotive grade wire and connectors.

· Manually assembling wires and connectors to produce finished wiring looms.

· Assembling wiring loom kits.

Lights & Speakers

· Assembly of globes, reflectors, wiring and circuit boards.

· Mechanical assembly of speakers, horns and brackets.

Printed circuit assembly

· Hand solders and does touch up or light repair to product using detailed assembly procedures.

· Placing electronic components and wiring on circuit boards.

· Performs components, prepares, and loads PC boards using manual or automated equipment.

· Performs visual inspection to specifications (identify missing, wrong, reversed components and defective PC boards).

· Performs daily Operator-level maintenance.

· Sets up and operates a variety of standard test equipment (e.g., Ohm meters, power supplies), unique electronic tools and/or automatic (PC) test equipment following written test procedures.

· Undertakes coating, potting and basic testing of circuit board assemblies.

Shipping / Despatch

· Basic packing and checking

· Foam moulding

· Inwards goods receipting and checking

· Freight documentation

· Operating lifting equipment

· Counting, checking against orders – eg address, qty, part no.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

· Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

· Demonstrated ability to read and understand written or oral instructions; read understand process documentation.

· Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools.

· May be required to participate in medical training/screening or monitoring programs.

· Completes all required paperwork (control charts, logs, timecards, etc.)

· Ability to work under and have close interaction with Team Members in a positive and effective manner. Possess good Team Work skills.

· Ability to train team members

· Supports flexibility and initiative to move between departments when necessary.

· Prior soldering and component identification experience.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

· Completion of Year 10

· Proven electronic and mechanical assembly experience

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to

· use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

· stand; sit; bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

· frequently lift and/or move up to 11 kilograms and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 kilograms.

· use specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, colour vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
