About the business and the role

Ambient Services Group is an all-in-one commercial asset maintenance provider serving metropolitan Sydney. We work behind the scenes on some of the city’s biggest buildings, offering everything from long-term asset management to emergency spot repairs.

Due to ongoing company growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Service Division, providing services to clients within the Sydney CBD and surrounding metropolitan areas.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance

Conduct routine inspections and planned maintenance of electrical systems, switchboards, lighting, and associated plant equipment.

Perform thermography scans and issue detailed reports identifying thermal anomalies and preventative recommendations.

Carry out RCD and injection testing, as well as scheduled emergency and exit lighting inspections and repairs.

Inspect and maintain UPS systems, battery banks, and control panels to ensure uninterrupted operation and system integrity.

Plan maintenance work in accordance with service schedules, client access requirements, and resource availability.

Troubleshooting and Repair

Diagnose, isolate, and repair faults across electrical, electronic, and mechanical control systems.

Use diagnostic tools and test meters to identify wiring, component, and connection faults.

Perform corrective maintenance to restore equipment to full operational capacity, including lighting, motors, and switchgear.

Assist in identifying recurring issues and recommend system improvements or design modifications.

Installation and Minor Projects

Install new electrical systems and equipment, including lighting, power outlets, and cable containment.

Support mechanical projects by assisting with electrical connections, controls, and BMS integration.

Undertake small installation works in line with project or upgrade scopes under the ATS service framework.

Safety, Compliance, and Quality

Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules), AS 1851, and NSW WHS Regulations.

Maintain compliance with Ambient’s ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems.

Implement safety procedures on every task, including lockout/tagout, risk assessments, and SWMS.

Maintain a clean and safe workspace and promptly report hazards or near misses.

Documentation and Record Keeping

Complete detailed service reports, inspection sheets, and compliance test records in SimPRO or the ATS maintenance platform.

Maintain up-to-date records of system faults, repairs, and asset condition.

Ensure all testing and maintenance records are properly filed and traceable for audit and compliance purposes.

Collaboration and Client Service

Liaise professionally with clients, facility managers, and subcontractors to coordinate maintenance works and site access.

Communicate technical findings clearly and provide value-adding recommendations.

Work independently or collaboratively within the ATS team to deliver efficient service outcomes.

Participate in the on-call/after-hours rotation, responding to urgent electrical faults when required.

Skills and experience

NSW Electrical Licence (Qualified Supervisor or Electrician).

Current CPR/LVR Certification.

White Card, EWP, and Working at Heights (preferred).

Current Drivers licence.

Technical problem solving skills.
