St Lucia Kindergarten has an exciting opportunity for a Passionate and Qualified Early Childhood Teacher at our well-resourced community based kindergarten! We are affiliated with C&K and have been providing Kindy to our community for 77 years.
In this role, the Early Childhood Teacher will be an integral part of the team working alongside a qualified Assistant Teacher to deliver a high quality Kindergarten program.
Opportunity: Permanent Part-Time position (with 9 month probation period) from January 2026
Days/Hours: Thursdays and Fridays from 7:40am to 5:00pm with paid recess leave during QLD school holidays + 2 hours of additional non-contact time paid per week during term time (80 hours per year)
Qualifications Required: Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood or equivalent) + QCT Registration + Valid Exemption Card + First Aid

About us
St Lucia Kindergarten is our not-for-profit Kindergarten, providing a safe & inspiring learning environment for children since 1948. Catering for up to 44 children each day, we believe children learn best through well-planned & supported play.
We are privileged to have a culturally and linguistically diverse community. Learning takes place in our beautiful, well-resourced classrooms and our large, natural outdoor play areas. We hold an annual Art Show to showcase children’s work, we have an extensive incursion program, and also offer Nature Play Excursions in Term 2 and 3.

About the Opportunity
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
Being enthusiastic and passionate about children and play-based learning in early childhood
Providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment for all children to feel safe, secure and included
Communicating effectively and building warm and responsive relationships based on respect and trust with children, families and other team members
Developing and implementing a high quality educational and child-centred learning program, to meet the needs of individual children and the group
Maintaining written documentation based on the planning cycle in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF)
Engaging in physical tasks such as setting up and packing up play equipment
Being part of the service’s Leadership Team and working as an effective team leader to direct and support their Assistant Teacher and any Inclusion Support Assistants
Sharing their own strengths and interests as an educator within the team
participating in regular team meetings and being flexible and reflective, with a commitment to ongoing improvement, professional development and learning
Being willing to follow directions from the Director and Parent Management Committee
joining Kindy & community events, incl. BBQs, Harmony Day Breakfast & Open Day
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Full Australian working rights essential
Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or higher essential
2+ years previous Early Childhood Education experience
Current Working with Children Check essential
Appropriate First Aid qualifications or willingness to obtain
