We are seeking Clinical Nurse Consultants- Practice Improvement Practitioners - CYMHS (532526d). These positions are also being advertised as Allied Health Professionals (532526). The positions will be filled on a merit base.

CYMHS is in a period of significant growth that is increasing access to mental health care for Tasmanians. The Practice Improvement Practitioner is a new role with scope to work across a variety of existing CYMHS programs delivering high-quality practice development and education for CYMHS clinicians. The role is part of a small unit based within the CYMHS Extended Programs, which include Out-of-Home Care Mental Health, Youth Forensic Mental Health, Youth Mental Health, and the community CYMHS teams.

There are 2 positions available, one in the South based in Hobart and one in the North/Northwest. This is a dual classified position and is also being advertised as a Grade 6 nursing position (532526 d). Positions will be filled on merit.

Locations:

North

  • Office based in Launceston CBD.
  • Northern Tasmania is an area of natural beauty where you will have easy access to the Cataract George, waterfalls, bush walks, beautiful beaches, and excellent mountain biking tracks.
  • Launceston is a great place to raise children with access to some of Tasmania’s prestigious schools.
  • The Tamar Region/Kanamaluka is truly a beautiful part of Tasmania/Lutruwita!

Northwest

  • Office is based in Burnie and Devonport.
  • The Northwest Coast is an area of Tasmania where you have easy access to a multitude of beautiful beaches, bushwalks and other recreational activities spread across the small cities and townships that make up this region. It is truly a beautiful part of Lutruwita!

South

  • Office based in Hobart City Centre
  • The Southern area of Tasmania is a beautiful area to live and raise children.

The Role:

The Practice Improvement Practitioner provides specialist advice and planning in the development, implementation and evaluation of workforce education and training initiatives, within the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS). The Practice Improvement Practitioner works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to meet the education needs of clinicians and collaborates as part of the broader CYMHS Education and Operational teams by supporting, leading and contributing to education programs and organisational initiatives across CYMHS.

Essential requirements:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom
  • Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licenses that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licenses remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/license is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Five or more years post-graduate experience in the child and youth mental health sector or similar role (clinical and/or education/development).
  • Holds or is working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in the child and youth mental health sector field and/or Education/Training and Assessment.
  • Current Driver’s Licence

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121, 886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) agreement 2019, Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award.

Allowances:

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
