The Team:
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Palliative Care, will work with the Specialist Palliative Care Service - community team which incorporates the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) Palliative Care team both of which follow a consultancy service delivery model. The successful applicant for this position will commence in the community service and there will be opportunities to rotate to the RHH consult team by negotiation. Clinicians in the multidisciplinary Specialist Palliative Care team work in accordance with clinical standards and best practice principles to improve the quality of life and healthcare experiences of people with life-limiting illnesses referred to the service. We focus on providing optimal symptom management and end of life care planning, and we aim to support and empower people to die in the place of their choice.
The Role:
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Palliative Care provides clinical leadership and direction in planning, implementing and evaluating the provision of palliative care to effectively support the delivery of an acute and community palliative care service provided by Hospitals South. The Clinical Nurse Consultant is responsible for:
- Providing clinical leadership and specialist clinical advice to nursing, medical and allied health staff including other health care providers and external stakeholders.
- Coordinating acute and community palliative care clinical practices including palliative care assessment and treatment plans, psychosocial support and interventions.
- Leading the development and implementation of clinical protocols, guidelines and service delivery options.
You will need:
- Demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise relevant to consultancy, assessment, case management and care coordination in the management of clients with a life limiting illness
- Demonstrated ability to maximise productive working relationships with a range of health professional disciplines, and service providers across practice settings.
- Proven ability to apply contemporary leadership and educational principles to a clinical setting.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working up to 40 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for twelve (12) months.
Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Location: Hobart, Tasmania
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
- Current Driver’s Licence
