Trades Assistant / Workshop All-Rounder – Full-Time (3 Month Trial Period)

Are you a practical, hands-on person who enjoys variety and working as part of a small, dynamic team? Pacific Shredder is an Australian-owned business supplying parts, heavy fabrication and equipment to the steel recycling industry. We’re looking for a motivated Trades Assistant / Workshop All-Rounder to join our team in Sandgate on a full-time basis.

This is a long-term position for someone who wants stable, ongoing work and enjoys being part of a tight-knit team. Every day is different: you might be assisting with fabrication, loading trucks, helping in a rebuild, painting and cleaning, or out on the road making a delivery.

About the Role

• General workshop and yard work including assisting boilermakers, using power and hand tools, fabrication prep, painting, cleaning, and maintenance.

• Loading and unloading deliveries and materials, operating forklifts and overhead cranes.

• Driving company trucks for deliveries and pickups.

• Site housekeeping, keeping the workshop and yard clean, safe and organised.

• Supporting tradespeople and subcontractors on various jobs.

• Other tasks as directed, with the flexibility to work on different jobs day to day.

About You

We’re open to applicants with a range of experience, from seasoned trades assistants to keen, practical workers ready to get stuck in. The key is a can-do attitude and a willingness to adapt to different tasks.

• Practical, hands-on and not afraid of hard work.

• Able to work independently but also follow direction and support a team.

• Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.

• Comfortable working with power tools and machinery.

• Current MR (Medium Rigid) truck licence – essential.

• Current forklift licence – essential.
