About Us

Established in 1967, we are a small team of 25 staff. Our focus is building legal capability - supporting the justice sector to engage effectively with the community we serve and building public understanding and confidence in our legal system.

We have a great culture and offer a range of benefits such as gratis days off over Christmas and salary packaging options.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the role leads the strategic planning and delivery of VLF's education programs and events for the community and legal sectors, consistent with the VLF Act and strategy. This includes delivering Victorian Law Week; the annual Legal Laneway Breakfasts; events and resource development for young people (including the Schools Program); and plain language training for the community legal sector.

You will also represent the organisation externally to maintain strong relationships and ensure programs are impactful for relevant audiences.

This role is available full time or 0.8 FTE.

Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, key responsibilities include:

  • lead the strategic direction of the Education function, including managing a diverse team of six staff.
  • plan, manage, and evaluate VLF's education programs and events.
  • ensure transparent management of policies, budgets, and risks across education and events, working closely with the Executive Director and Leadership Team.
  • work closely with the Research and Strategy & Engagement teams to support research projects, enhance communications, and uplift educational resources.
  • maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and identify and secure partnerships and sponsorships to support Victorian Law Week and other key initiatives.

About You

You are deeply committed to improving access to justice by designing and delivering impactful educational programs and events. To do this successfully, you will:

  • bring a deep understanding of how to design and deliver educational initiatives that strengthen the capability of the community and legal sector to engage meaningfully with the Victorian public, particularly young people to foster greater understanding and confidence in the legal system.
  • have proven ability to plan and deliver successful educational programs, manage contingencies, and oversee budgets and timelines.
  • be skilled in managing diverse stakeholders and contributing strategically to leadership, while effectively leading and developing a team.
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team.
  • be confident in using online event platforms (Zoom, MS Teams) and booking systems, plus strong skills in MS Office applications.
  • Have relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, ideally with exposure to the legal profession, and a valid Working with Children Check.

How to Apply

Applications should include:

  • CV
  • Cover letter responding to Key Selection Criteria (KSC) in the Recruitment Pack (150-250 words per KSC).

For more information, contact Hannah Dart, HR Advisor at [email protected].

Applications close midnight AEST Tuesday 4th November 2025.

We encourage people from all backgrounds, abilities, and identities to apply.
