This organisation is investing in data, AI, and market capability to drive efficiency and growth, while maintaining a strong presence in the corporate insurance space. You'll be joining a business that values diversity, inclusion, and professional development. The leadership team is highly engaged, and the underwriting function is well-supported, with a collaborative culture and strong market relationships. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a high-performing team, shape the future of corporate underwriting, and make a meaningful impact in a growing segment.
Your new role
As Principal Corporate Underwriter, you will lead the underwriting of the largest and most complex corporate property risks, typically with total insured values exceeding $1 billion. Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex corporate property risks in line with strategy, guidelines, and delegated authority.
- Lead broker engagement and tripartite relationships with corporate clients.
- Mentor and support junior underwriters and underwriting assistants.
- Collaborate with business development and senior management to drive account acquisition.
- Contribute to portfolio profitability, pricing, and strategic direction.
- Support underwriting operations including documentation, credit management, and servicing.
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 10 years' experience in corporate property underwriting.
- Strong market presence and broker relationships in Australia (Melbourne preferred).
- Confidence, negotiation skills, and the ability to operate independently.
- Proven experience with policy wording, risk selection, and pricing.
- ANZIIF qualifications (Cert IV or Associate) preferred.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- A collaborative and engaging personality - able to mentor and lead by example.
What you'll get in return
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior underwriting role with strategic influence, market visibility, and genuine scope to shape the future of corporate property underwriting in Australia.
- Competitive Remuneration: Base salary of $250,000-$270,000 + superannuation + performance bonus, with flexibility for the right candidate.
- Career Growth: Lead a growing portfolio and mentor junior talent, with potential to build a team around you.
- Flexible Working: Hybrid model with three days in-office, supporting work-life balance and collaboration.
- Market Impact: Underwrite high-value corporate risks and engage directly with senior brokers and clients.
- Innovation & Support: Be part of a business investing in AI, data, and underwriting capability, with no plans to reduce resources.
- Inclusive Culture: Join a team that values diversity, collaboration, and professional development.
