About Us
At Kempscapes we’re a young, professional horticultural company based in Sydney. Our team of horticulturists maintain stunning outdoor environments for high-end residential clients. We’re expanding ahead of the growth season with a number of large intricate maintenance contracts in the pipeline and are looking for an experienced, hands-on leader with a keen eye for detail to grow with us.
Role Overview
As the horticultural Team Leader, you’ll lead a small crew to deliver premium garden maintenance services. You’ll ensure our clients’ gardens look immaculate year-round, coordinate projects, train other team members, all while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day garden maintenance tasks in high-end residential settings
Strong understanding of irrigation systems and schedules
Perform and oversee pruning, hedging, turf care, planting, mulching, fertilising, and soft landscaping
Develop seasonal work plans (fertiliser schedules, plant health care, renovation projects)
Ensure safe work practices and compliance with workplace health and safety guidelines
Manage equipment (mowers, trimmers, brush cutters, etc.) and ensure it’s maintained and used safely
Coach and support your team, helping them build skills and take ownership
Communicate with clients, designers and landscaping companies addressing their feedback and ensuring their expectations are met
Work collaboratively with top designers, construction, and landscape companies on established and newly planted out gardens
Stay on top of daily billable timesheets, accurately record hours and effectively manage the job calendar
Who You Are
Minimum 4+ years’ experience in high-end residential horticulture/garden maintenance
High level of plant, weed, pest, and disease identification knowledge
Strong skills in horticultural techniques: pruning, topiary, seasonal rotations, turf care, fertilising etc.
Experience in leading and motivating a small team
Excellent time-management, attention to detail, and organisational skills
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Confident with using power tools, different sized hedgers, whipper snipper, blower, mower etc.
Familiar with implementing fertiliser programs and general landscape upkeep, intricate gardens and horticultural tasks.
Current driver’s licence (preferred)
Construction induction (White Card)
Formal qualifications in horticulture desirable but not essential
