About the Role
The City is seeking two experienced, friendly and passionate Youth Workers to engage with young people and deliver youth programs across the City

Programs for young people are delivered at various locations such as community and youth centres in Landsdale, Wanneroo, Girrawheen, Yanchep and Clarkson and at our many parks within the City of Wanneroo. You will gain valuable experience working from many of the unique locations within the City of Wanneroo.

Developing positive engagement with a strong emphasis on safety, the role communicates with a range of customers and stakeholders including young people, members of the public, City Leaders and employees. Youth Workers are to work alongside young people to support wellbeing and connect them with services within the community

The role also participates in planning and delivering programs tailored to meet the needs of young people and encourages the development of life skills. Childhood and Youth Services are a vibrant and passionate team.

About You
You will be adaptable and friendly, and have experience working in a Youth Work position or similar. You will thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation and be passionate about delivering high quality youth service outcomes to the community.

As such, you will be able to demonstrate through your resume and cover letter that you meet the following capabilities:

  • Qualification in relevant discipline (or working towards one) and/or relevant experience in the delivery of pre-planned youth programs, activities and events;
  • A good understanding of issues young people are facing and referral pathways and services;
  • The ability to engage and build strong relationships with young people and peers through good communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Knowledge of the practical application of occupational health and safety in relation to interaction with members of the public; and
  • Hold or be able to apply for a current Working with Children Check, and Provide First Aid Certificate (must be current prior to commencing).

Applicants must be able to work outside normal business hours and may be required to operate at various locations within the City of Wanneroo. The successful candidate will have availability for rostering in accordance with Youth Services operational requirements. Availability for shifts between Monday and Friday from 2pm to 7pm will be highly regarded.
