Mental Health Occupational Therapist
Esus Centre
About the Role
A unique opportunity exists to join Esus Centre as a Mental Health Occupational Therapist. You will join a highly skilled and compassionate multidisciplinary team delivering outpatient and day-patient treatment through an innovative, integrated model of care.
The role involves opportunities within both the outpatient and hospital programs, working closely with clinicians to support recovery for individuals with eating disorders and their families. This includes supporting the needs of our neurodivergent community. Esus Centre is invested in shifting the trajectory of long-term mental health challenges. Significant service development is underway to support improved youth mental health, independent of eating disorders. Esus Centre also operates transdiagnostic programs (teen and adult DBT Skills; RO DBT).
Esus Centre provides treatment options of varying intensity according to individual and family needs — from daily intensive programs operating as inpatient substitutes, to low-intensity group programs, through to coordinated outpatient treatment alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians, physiotherapists, social workers and nurses. The Centre includes on-site GP-led medical monitoring and management.
As a Mental Health OT, you will have a key role in developing, delivering and evaluating evidence-based, recovery-focused services, while contributing to service innovation, program development, and professional supervision across the team.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and delivery of evidence-based, recovery-focused occupational therapy programs across outpatient and day-patient settings.
Guide the development of neurodivergent informed care and improved accommodations across the Service.
Contribute to research and evaluation initiatives, assessing outcomes and driving service improvement across all therapy streams.
Collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, integrated care for consumers.
Direct and facilitate service development initiatives to improve treatment effectiveness and efficiency.
Represent the Centre at external clinical forums and participate in working parties or committees as required.
Provide strong discipline-specific leadership aligned with the Centre’s goals of excellence, sustainability, and innovation in eating disorder treatment.
Essential Criteria
Registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong person-centred focus and commitment to recovery-oriented practice.
Demonstrated collaborative and supportive approach to teamwork.
Motivation and adaptability to lead change and contribute to service innovation.
Demonstrated experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and facilitation of DBT skills programs is desirable. ANZAED accreditation desirable.
Why Join Us?
You’ll be part of a forward-thinking, recovery-focused service that values collaboration, compassion, and innovation. This position offers significant opportunity for professional development and research involvement within an established and highly regarded multidisciplinary service. You will have the opportunity to shape and advance the integration of occupational therapy approaches within eating disorder treatment and to lead a team committed to delivering best-practice, evidence-based care.
