The School of Health Sciences at UNSW is rapidly expanding to service education agendas based on our four ground-breaking health professional education programs. These programs have seen the scope of our teaching effort broaden significantly and moving forward, shape the future Health workforce in Australia and beyond.
Why this role matters
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Clinical Education, Nutrition and Dietetics sits within the School of Health Sciences, Discipline of Nutrition & Dietetics. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the nutrition and Dietetics clinical placement programs for the School of Health Sciences. This role reports to the Discipline Lead, Nutrition and Dietetics.
This position has no direct reports, however, will collaborate with placement teams across all disciplines to enhance the overall development, direction and guidance of the School’s clinical education capabilities.
Some key skills required:
Level B
- Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) or eligibility and willingness to seek accreditation as an APD.
- A PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics or other related health disciplines is preferred although significant and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of PhD.
- Demonstrated experience with industry and work-integrated learning and clinical education
- Proven commitment to proactive maintenance of discipline knowledge and development.
- Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery of courses (subjects) and programs (degrees), at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, particularly related to clinical education and WIL
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Level C (in addition to the above)
- Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, specifically in clinical education/WIL.
- A PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics or other related health disciplines, or a minimum of post-graduate qualifications relevant to the position (e.g. learning and teaching related).
- Evidence of professional development in teaching and a strong track record of teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Demonstrated track record in research (may be in scholarship of learning and teaching) with outcomes of high quality and high impact to improve education and or health outcomes
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
