Join our team as a Maintenance Crew Supervisor (Southern Moreton Bay Islands)

Lead with purpose in paradise! In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll guide a dedicated team delivering essential maintenance services that keep the Southern Moreton Bay Islands looking their best. From scenic parks, and open space and conservation areas to vital roads and drainage infrastructure, you’ll coordinate daily operations, manage works programs, and provide technical oversight to ensure our island communities continue to thrive.

This role is based on the Bay Islands, making it a fantastic opportunity for local residents or those who’d enjoy a ferry commute and the unique lifestyle of working by the water. Mainland-based employees in this role receive applicable travel allowances.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supervising daily civil, drainage, and maintenance operations across the Bay Islands

Leading and mentoring a team of staff and contractors to achieve safe, high-quality outcomes

Monitoring works to ensure compliance with Council policies, safety, and environmental standards

Planning and scheduling maintenance programs to meet service levels and timelines

Managing budgets, procurement, and administrative requirements to support efficient delivery

Providing technical advice and guidance across civil, marine, and open space maintenance

Building positive relationships with internal stakeholders and the community

Driving a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

Skills and experience:

Proven experience delivering civil maintenance or construction services to a high standard

Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams and contractors

Sound knowledge of workplace health, safety, and environmental management

Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and deliver multiple projects effectively

Excellent communication and customer service skills with a collaborative approach

Proficiency in using technology and asset management systems for reporting and tracking works

Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail

Current driver licence and physical ability to meet the demands of the role

Eligibility:

You'll have 3 years’ experience in a relevant field such as civil maintenance or construction

You'll hold a current Class C driver licence

You'll have the ability to participate in an after-hours on-call roster and work reasonable overtime when required

You'll hold a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision (or equivalent), or significant relevant experience with the ability to rapidly obtain this qualification
