Your Opportunity

As the Technical Architect, Sever and Cloud, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the development and improvement of Enterprise Infrastructure services by utilising your technical experience and knowledge to provide planning and direction on our on premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Maintain and communicate the strategy and direction of the Enterprise Infrastructure team ensuring the projects and associated vendors adhere to the overall vision.

This position reports to the Manager, Server and Cloud.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity.

The position will be based primarily at Mount Gravatt campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic planning and direction for the hybrid infrastructure platform: compute and storage hardware, IaaS and PaaS cloud services, virtualisation and associated technologies and products.
  • Develop and maintain architecture artefacts and documentation to improve governance including standards, processes and policies.
  • Develop strategies and roadmaps that align to business objectives and drive transformation.
  • Work to the guidelines of the TAFE ICT Enterprise Architecture framework and work with architecture governance bodies.
  • Provide and contribute to solution designs. Ensure business and solution requirements are translated into technical solution designs.
  • Provide an escalation point for operational staff and problem management for the infrastructure platform.
  • Work with the Technical Leads to map and maintain a complete picture of TAFE ICT infrastructure platform.
  • Ensure all work is aligned with TAFE Queensland strategic vision and operational planning.
  • Engage with external service providers on infrastructure and cloud related activities and project work.
  • Establish strong working relationships and communicate to a broad range of technical and non-technical clients, including key stakeholders and external consultants.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the values of Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to independently research and analyse new and existing solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hybrid infrastructure, with a strong understanding in cloud services such as Azure, on-premises Microsoft solutions, hardware infrastructure and virtualisation platforms. Along with the ability to design solutions utilising these technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience working in infrastructure operations and projects in complex environments.
  • Ability to produce strategy and roadmap documentation and work within an architecture framework.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, understand their place in a complex environment and provide guidance for direction and implementation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to engage effectively at all levels of an organisation, including the ability to work effectively alongside outsourced delivery partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a strong ICT team culture that values the contributions of all team members, is honest and considerate, and through that contributes to a high-performance team.
