Waverley Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic People & Culture Business Partner to join our team. This is a hands-on strategic partnering role where you will work closely with business units and senior leaders across Council.

In this role you will:
- Provide high level advice, guidance, and support on people related matters, identifying opportunities and challenges to help shape the development and delivery of both tailored people strategies and enterprise-wide initiatives
- Support leaders in the delivery of people-centric initiatives that align with Waverley Council’s strategic direction and values
- Partner with business units and senior leaders to deliver proactive HR solutions, develop awareness of human resource policies and promote compliance
- Manage employee and industrial relations matters, driving outcomes and mitigating risk
- Drive and contribute to the implementation of HR policies, and change management initiatives
- Coach and influence leaders on IR / ER, performance management, and talent development
About You
- Hold relevant qualifications in human resources, related field or relevant industry experience, Experience in partnering and advising businesses in relation to people matters across the employee life cycle
- Demonstrated experience in industrial relations within a unionised environment
- Proven experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a diverse group of key stakeholders and acting as a trusted adviser,
- The ability to make rational and sound decisions based on consideration of the facts and the alternatives.
- Strong experience as a HR generalist or a specialisation in either, ER/IR, or performance and reward
- Highly developed influencing and negotiation skills and an approachable style with a passion for developing relationships and working with others
- The ability to manage and work in a multi-disciplinary/cross functional team
- Strong levels of initiative, ownership and strong attention to detail and the ability to manage changing priorities and juggling multiple projects
- Experience and detailed knowledge of contemporary employee relations and human resource challenges affecting a diverse organisation.
- Knowledge of relevant workplace legislation and Government policies
- Ability and passion to support delivery and facilitation of training
