Dandelion House is an accredited NDIS Disability Service Provider operating across the Newcastle, Maitland, and Dubbo regions. We specialise in providing Supported Independent Living (SIL) accommodation for people with a disability. About this Role:
We are seeking passionate and resilient individuals to join our team and support our Participants in achieving their goals, as well as developing their social and independent living skills.
This role is based in the Newcastle and Maitland areas and involes working across a 24/7 roster which could include mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate effectively within a supportive and professional team environment.
Demonstrate and uphold person-centred care principles in all interactions with Participants.
Management of emotions and challenging behaviours with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Complete administrative tasks accurately and promptly, including shift notes, reports, and other documentation.
Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities across a range of activities of daily living, which may include: Domestic duties and household tasks, Personal care assistance, Social support, Medication support, Manual handling and mobility assistance, Transportation, Meal preparation, and Attending appointments or outings.
Build, establish, and maintain positive relationships with all key stakeholders, including Participants, their families, guardians, and other involved services, ensuring respectful and effective communication at all times.
Essential Criteria:
Valid, unrestricted driver’s licence.
Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Current NDIS worker check (or willingness to obtain).
Current Working With Children's Check (or willingness to obtain).
Reliable vehicle with current registration and comprehensive insurance, suitable for transporting Participants.
Flexibility to work across mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
MUST be available to work sleepover shifts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills.
Smart Phone.
Desired Criteria:
Relevant industry qualification.
Previous experience working in the community services sector.
Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with mental health, complex needs, and challenging behaviours.
