Mrs Jones Restaurant Bar Lounge is a modern Australian dining destination located beachside at the Bluff in Devonport, Tasmania, overlooking the Mersey River mouth and Bass Strait coastline.We are known for our fresh, locally sourced produce, innovative seasonal menus, and warm, welcoming service. The Role:

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team and support the Head Chef in daily operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for a motivated professional who thrives in a high-quality, fast-paced environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist Head Chef in menu planning, development, and execution of seasonal dishes

Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during service to ensure consistency and quality

Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene

Oversee stock control, ordering, and cost management in line with budget targets

Contribute to staff training, mentoring, and performance management

Ensure compliance with all food safety, HACCP, and workplace health and safety regulations

Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef

What We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate will be a driven and creative professional with strong leadership and technical skills. We’re looking for someone who:

Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant environment

Possesses a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)

Demonstrates exceptional culinary technique and knowledge of modern Australian cuisine

Is highly organised, reliable, and works well under pressure

Has excellent communication and teamwork skills

Brings a passion for local Tasmanian produce and seasonal menu creation

Maintains high professional and cleanliness standards at all times

Remuneration:

Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 per annum (plus superannuation)

Full-time position (minimum 38 hours per week)

Meals provided during shifts
