Graduate Engineer

Kickstart your Engineering career with Blackform Contracting

We’re looking for a motivated Graduate Engineer to join our family-owned business and grow with us. You’ll gain hands-on industry experience in rural and remote civil construction projects (FIFO/DIDO). From government infrastructure works to private-sector renewable energy developments. At Blackform Contracting, we design, construct, and replace essential remote/rural infrastructure.

What you’ll do:

- Review drawings and specifications to ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements.

- Coordinate procurement of materials and engagement of subcontractors.

- Conduct inspections and prepare and maintain quality assurance documentation (inspection and test plans).

- Liaise effectively with clients to support project delivery and resolve issues.

- Complete daily project reports, cost tracking and contract admin, submit dockets, approve and review staff and subcontractor timesheets calculating weekly costs incurred verse revenue earned.

- Apply proactive problem-solving with a focus on achieving the best outcome for the project.

- Daily scheduling of project work fronts, allocating tasks to crews, conducting daily pre-starts.

- Onsite management of WHS ensuring all works are completed in a safe planned manner.

- Development of tender submission, first principal tender pricing.

- Develop technical and professional skills through project-based experience and participate in weekly mentoring meetings with company management.

- This is not a Design Engineering Role

What we are looking for (Role):

- Recent graduate (or final year) undergraduate studying Engineering (Civil).

- Proficient in Microsoft Office/Windows and key applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

- You must be able to communicate effectively with the ability to build rapport with others including stakeholders, clients, subcontractors and employees.

- This role requires a high level of fluency in written and spoken English. The ability to communicate complex information clearly, confidently and professionally in English is essential for success in this position.

- Strong attention to detail with a genuine interest in learning and starting your career in the civil construction industry.

- Holds a valid Construction White Card and current driver’s licence.

- Demonstrates a proactive and reliable work ethic with a commitment to every project.

- FIFO/DIDO, happy to work a 2:1 roster as well as, working from home from time to time.

- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, understanding the importance of deadlines.
