Head of Learning Area – Mathematics (Years 7–12)

Sunshine Coast Grammar School is a leading independent, coeducational school, committed to excellence in education and grounded in Christian values. We are seeking an outstanding and visionary educator to lead our Mathematics Learning Area across Years 7–12 to commence in January 2026.

About the Role:

As a member of the Secondary School's middle leadership team, the Head of Learning Area – Mathematics will:

Lead, inspire, and support a team of mathematics educators, fostering a transparent and positive learning culture.

Oversee all facets of the Years 7–12 Mathematics curriculum, including planning, implementation, assessment, and evaluation.

Model best practice and innovation in teaching, curriculum design, and the use of technology.

Manage and coordinate mathematics-related co-curricular and extra-curricular programs, events, tours, camps, excursions, and workshops.

Collaborate with school leadership to align departmental goals with the School's strategic vision and values.

Mentor staff, support professional development, and contribute to performance appraisal processes.

Ensure compliance with QCAA and ACARA requirements, and lead quality assurance processes for curriculum and assessment.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider school community.

About you:

Demonstrated leadership experience in a secondary mathematics context.

Experience teaching Specialist and Mathematics Methods highly regarded.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and current QCT registration.

Deep knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, QCAA, and current pedagogical trends in mathematics education.

Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate effective teaching and learning programs.

Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.

Alignment with the Christian values and ethos of the School and PMSA.
