Assembly Technician

Location:

This position will be based at our workshop in New Gisborne, Victoria. Located North-West of Melbourne.

Due to our expanding business in Australia, we are seeking a new Assembly Technician to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the safety and quality of our products, specifically focusing on couplers. You will be responsible for assembling and verifying a wide range of products within mechanical train connection systems. Additionally, you will work closely with the planning and sales departments to deliver our products and perform overhauls. Your tasks will also include providing important feedback from the overhauls to support the sales department and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives in the design of mechanical products with the engineering team based on Lean and 5S principles. You will receive training to operate a high-tech test rig for product validation.

Your role will involve:

- Mechanical Fitting and assembling

- Preparing test mechanical equipment

- Performing initial mechanical assembly and participating in first article inspections of our products

- Conducting tests in accordance with procedures and documenting the results

- Providing testing procedure guidance to colleagues for new mechanical products

- Suggesting design improvements for the development of new mechanical products

- Proposing workshop enhancements to maintain a top-level facility

We expect that:

- You have relevant technical mechanical work experience or a similar background

- You are skilled in working with hand tools

- You can understand drawings and perform accurate measurements

- You are fluent in spoken and written English

- You have a good technical understanding and analytical skills

- You prioritize safety in your work

- You are computer literate

- Being well-organized, highly motivated, and open-minded

- Having a proactive approach and taking ownership

- Having prior knowledge of mechanical assemblies

- Having knowledge of Lean and 5S principles

- Being able to work with minimal supervision

- Having prior knowledge within in the railroad industry

What we can offer you:

Salary will be commensurate with experience, approximately $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per annum (exclusive of superannuation).
