The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join a federal agency in a hands-on role. You will work closely with key stakeholders to monitor and administer the agency’s financial systems, while also driving process improvement and strengthening financial governance.

The role reports directly to the Assistant Director, an experienced and approachable leader who values your development. This vital position is open to candidates interested in section 26 transfers or contract opportunities, providing flexibility in how you join the team.

The Role

Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Financial Systems, the key responsibilities include:

• User Support: handle day-to-day requests; deliver user training
• System Administration: Lead admin tasks incl. month-end rollovers, annual financial statements, and reporting
• Master Data: Maintain data accuracy and governance for payments and reporting
• Governance: Contribute to financial systems governance functions
• Change Management: Support enhancements, coordinate changes, and assist with system projects

The Ideal Person

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused finance professional who is either already experienced in financial systems or keen to step into a dedicated Systems Accountant role.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background who enjoys governance, process improvement, and problem-solving, and wants to specialise in systems.

You’ll bring curiosity, clear communication skills, a positive attitude, and the confidence to manage competing priorities.

You may come from one of the following backgrounds:

• An APS6 Accountant, who is motivated to transition into a dedicated systems role
• A finance professional from the consulting sector with hands-on experience supporting government clients, now looking to move into the APS

Experience with TechnologyOne is highly regarded.

A minimum Baseline security clearance is required for this role.

Salary / Rate

• $95k – $108k + Super
• Good WFH flexibility
