Our participants, Our people, Our purpose

Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The branch supports the Agency in financial management and compliance with legislative and policy requirements, including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (2013) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act (2013). We provide timely and accurate financial information based on strong financial controls, supporting the agency’s decision-making and the Government’s objectives for financial sustainability of both the agency and the scheme.

The EL2 Director will exercise a significant degree of independence and will use a high-level of decision-making and judgement. The role will be required to coordinate and assume responsibility for highly complex or sensitive projects and work program outcomes across the functions that have strategic or operational significance to the NDIA.

Where you can add value

The position is an important team leadership position within the NDIA and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) Division risk and control register by utilising a sound knowledge and understanding of the core financial functions to provide high level advice to the executive.
  • Maintaining the Agency’s Finance Policies and Accountable Authority Instructions (AAIs).
  • Managing quarterly and annual financial and compliance assurance reporting such as PGPA Compliance reporting, Gifts and Benefits reporting, Super Guarantee management, and tax compliance.
  • Managing the accounts payable, receivable and credit card functions and the monitoring of non-compliance with finance policies.
  • Managing corporate debt.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you

Desired qualifications:
Academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications)
Experience performing and delivering complex financial and governance outcomes.
Demonstrable team leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary team.
