The Role
This is a critical IT Infrastructure position responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and technical support of all fixed and mobile network assets across the mine site.
- Roster: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off (Thursday to Thursday, Day Shift).
- Location: Pilbara Region, WA (FIFO from Perth).
Core Responsibilities
- Network Maintenance: Install, configure, and troubleshoot IP networks, including Cisco/Juniper routing and switching gear, ensuring high-speed data transmission for all Operational Technology (OT) and corporate systems.
- Wireless and Comms: Maintain the large-scale wireless mesh network and digital radio communication systems essential for safety and production.
- Physical Infrastructure: Conduct fault-finding, termination, testing, and repair on all Fibre Optic and Copper infrastructure across fixed plant and mobile equipment.
- Field Diagnostics: Perform immediate first-line support for complex systems like Fleet Management Systems (FMS) and machine control hardware in demanding field conditions.
- Security & Compliance: Uphold site network security standards and strictly adhere to all mine site and IT procedural policies.
Skills & Experience
Essential Technical Expertise
- Trade qualification (Cert III or IV) in Telecommunications, Communications, Electronics, or an equivalent IT/ICT discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in IP Networking, including configuration and troubleshooting of routing/switching.
- Proven ability to work with and maintain Fibre Optic and structured cabling infrastructure.
- Valid Manual C Class Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
Ideal Candidate Profile (Army Signal Background)
We highly value candidates with experience in the Army Signal Corps (RASIGS, US 25-Series MOS) or similar military communications roles. This experience brings:
- Discipline and Decisiveness: Ability to quickly assess and solve critical system failures under pressure.
- Field Resilience: Proven capacity to deploy and maintain complex communications systems in austere, remote, and rugged environments.
- Systemic View: A deep understanding of how a large-scale communications network supports a central command/control objective.
