Our Care Assistants are extraordinarily passionate people who deeply care for our very unique residents. This is not your average Aged Care facility, because our residents are all men who have been or are impacted by homelessness. What makes our Care Assistant team so cool, is that they understand that being out on the streets, or between couches, is not helpful for managing medical and mental health issues. They understand that our residents are with us, usually in their forever home, and they assist to provide our clients with the best person-centred care, and lots of kindness and comfort.

Whether you're providing personal care, supporting fun group activities, encouraging hobbies, or having a meaningful conversation, you’re there to help residents rediscover what makes them smile.

You can expect the following, working a day on the job as a Care Assistant at St Bart’s:

Reporting into the Registered Nurse, keeping them well-informed, and collaborating with your colleagues to deliver tailored, high-quality care that aligns with each resident’s needs.

Keenly observing each of our residents, ensuring we catch even the smallest changes in their well-being, to enable the best possible care.

Assisting residents with daily living tasks, such as meal times and personal care.

Building genuine relationships that foster community and a sense of belonging among residents.

Building genuine relationships, with people from all walks of life, that foster community, trust in your abilities and a sense of belonging among residents. Adapting activities and support based on each resident's personalities and preferences, helping them reconnect with their passions.

Your application will go to the top of our shortlist you have:

A Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support.

Relevant work experience working in an Aged Care facility or similar.

A NDIS clearance, or the ability to get one.

Computer literacy – you may not be able to code, but you can reliably work your way around Outlook and information systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the flexibility to handle unexpected situations. You are quick on your feet!

Ability to be proactive and excellent organisational skills to juggle multiple priorities.

The perfect roster!

Start at 6.15am and finish at 2.15pm Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesdays to Fridays, your hours are 1.45pm to 9.45pm. Perfect for someone who has other stuff to do.

About Us

For 60 years, St Bart’s has supported people experiencing homelessness and severe and persistent mental health issues as they rebuild their lives. We started as a small homeless shelter for men and have grown into a progressive and inclusive organisation providing support to hundreds of Western Australian men, women and families across four key service areas. Our goal is to provide safe, supported accommodation and services to people who need it the most, regardless of background, age, gender or ethnicity.
