Shape the Future of Therapeutic Residential Care
As an Area Coordinator, you’ll be a key leader in our trauma-responsive model, guiding a small cluster of residential homes to provide safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children and young people. Working alongside Therapeutic Child and Youth Workers, Practice Coordinators, and the Operations Manager, you’ll lead with purpose - embedding therapeutic principles into daily care, supporting staff wellbeing, and ensuring service delivery meets the highest standards of safety, cultural responsiveness, and healing.
This is more than a leadership role – it’s a chance to:
- Lead with purpose and presence: Monitor staff performance, development, and wellbeing across your cluster, fostering a reflective and emotionally intelligent workforce. Provide guidance and on-call support during critical incidents, and intervene in complex situations to ensure staff are supported and services remain safe and responsive.
- Champion therapeutic and child-centred care: Work collaboratively with the Practice Coordinator to embed trauma-informed and relational approaches into daily practice. Ensure young people’s voices, needs, and aspirations are central to every decision, creating environments that promote healing, connection, and growth.
- Drive operational excellence: In partnership with the Operations Manager, oversee the delivery of residential care services, workforce planning, and compliance. Ensure services run smoothly and align with Junction’s trauma-responsive framework and cultural values.
We’re looking for emotionally intelligent leaders with a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, strong coaching and mentoring skills, and a commitment to creating spaces where young people and staff can thrive. If you’re passionate about relational leadership, reflective practice, and making a meaningful impact every day, we’d love to hear from you.
What We Offer:
- Values-driven culture
- Generous salary sacrifice benefits
- Great professional development opportunities
- A You are Amazing Day – an extra day of paid leave to spend however you want

- Can bring leadership capability with the ability to mentor, coach, and support reflective practice within a team environment
- Can manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and contribute to a consistent, high-quality care environment
- Demonstrate cultural competence and a commitment to working in a culturally safe and inclusive way, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Holds a Degree or tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a relevant equivalent (or lesser qualification complemented by substantial relevant experience)
