Posted 6 days ago
At Young Mindz, we’re committed to empowering Australians with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. As a nationwide NDIS provider, we deliver person-centred services including Supported Independent Living (SIL) and tailored disability support. Our approach is led by the heart and grounded in mindfulness, self-care, and community wellness.
We’re currently seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Senior Support Worker to join our team in a female Supported Independent Living (SIL) home on the northern Gold Coast, supporting one participant. This is a permanent part-time role where you’ll work independently to ensure the participant’s needs are met in a safe, nurturing environment.
Due to the specific care needs of the participants, this role is only open to female candidates.
About the Participant
You’ll be supporting a female participant who values calm routines, personal space, and respectful, empowering interactions. She is working toward greater independence and wellbeing, with support to manage daily living and build confidence in accessing the community.
This role involves supporting someone with complex support needs, including emotional regulation and behaviours that may escalate under stress. A trauma-informed, person-centred approach is essential, along with the ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations.
Experience in mental health, complex care, or crisis response is highly regarded. You’ll be part of a supportive team helping her feel safe, respected, and empowered in her home and community.
About the Role
You will provide one-on-one SIL support, including:
Assisting with personal care and hygiene
Preparing nutritious meals
Helping build and maintain routines
Encouraging community participation
Supporting the development of independent living skills
The Roster: Flexible Options to suit your lifestyle
This role offers a consistent fortnightly roster with up to 72 hours across a variety of shifts, including:
6am to 2pm
2pm to 10pm
10pm to 6am (inactive overnight)
We aim to provide flexibility while maintaining stability for our team and participants.
What we are looking for
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Disability Support Worker, including direct work in Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes
Proven experience supporting participants with high support needs, including physical or behavioural complexities
Skilled in managing challenging behaviours with a trauma-informed and person-centred approach
Comfortable working in dynamic environments requiring quick decision-making, emotional resilience, and strong communication skills
Committed to promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life for individuals with diverse support needs.
Required Certifications

First Aid and CPR Certificate
Driver’s licence
Reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
Desirable (but not mandatory)
Cert IV in mental health or equivalent

Ability to coordinate daily routines and household tasks effectively
Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to anticipate needs (e.g. groceries, supplies)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Comfortable using technology and basic software applications
Empathetic, patient, and deeply committed to participant wellbeing
