About the role
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for people with a commitment to social justice to be considered for various paralegal roles throughout the Family Law Division, supporting duty lawyer services and in-house practice solicitors.
Paralegals working within our duty lawyer teams at Family Court Services, Children’s Court (Protection) Services and the Domestic Violence Legal Unit, will provide intake, triage and administrative support, as well as taking applications for grants of aid, drafting urgent court documents, and providing information, referrals, and legal advice to clients under supervision.
The In-House Practice paralegals provide support to our Family Law Practice solicitors, assisting with inspecting subpoenas, drafting correspondence/court documents, trial preparation and legal research. Paralegals may be required to undertake rotations or provide support to other business units within the Family Law Division.
About you
The ideal candidates will have:
- experience working with complex clients from diverse backgrounds, with an ability to discern legal and non-legal matters;
- experience working as part of a team with the ability to contribute positively to that team;
- highly developed analytical and communication skills;
- the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
- high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- good working knowledge of the court processes, Legal Aid services and other service providers is desirable; and
- knowledge of Family Law procedures is desirable.
